Workshops are a vital part of the program. Math, Science, and English are challenging subjects. It is not uncommon for students to need extra help with their homework. In the public school system, it is hard to find this extra help. At the Sunshine Learning Center, workshops are like study halls where students can get all the extra help they need at no additional cost.
For the most part the workshops are optional. Students can just stop by and do their homework and get help if they need it. However, if a student begins to fall behind, or their test scores fall below passing, workshops will become mandatory until the student improves his or her performance.
Workshops are always staffed with teachers and tutors ready to answer questions. There are other resources available in the workshops such as videos, and extra practice material. With the workshops available, it is very hard for students to fall behind. Students are welcome to attend as many workshops as necessary in order to gain mastery of the material. There is never any additional charge for the workshops.
We must insist that the workshops be used for study time not socializing. For this reason, make sure your student brings a book incase he or she finishes the homework early.
Workshop Times
In the 2008-2009 school year, workshops will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday.
