Coral Springs Chess Club tournament rules and guidelines for play

1. USCF rules apply to all games.

2. The first round of each tournament will have a registration period between 6:30 p.m.. and 7:10 p.m. Pairings will be posted by 7:15 p.m. Clocks start at 7:30 p.m.

3. For all subsequent rounds, pairings will be posted at 7 p.m. and clocks will start at 7:15 p.m. Forfeits occur 45 minutes after clocks start. Players may not join a tournament after the beginning of the second round.

4. One ½-point bye is allowed per tournament. Last round byes may be requested any time before the pairings for round two have been completed.

5. Any player paired in a tournament who will not be able to come for a particular round, (and this round is not a previously requested bye) MUST call T.D. Joel Blaustein at 954-446-4824 NO LATER THAN 6 P.M. on the day of the tournament. (E-mail notification is NOT allowed.) That player will then receive a half-point bye if they have not already taken a bye in that tournament and it is not the final round.

If a player fails to show and does not call, they will receive a zero for the round and will have to pay a double entry fee at their next tournament registration. If any member is guilty of this offense three times, they will be banned from tournament play. Also, a player who doesn't call and doesn't show in an ongoing tournament must then be at the club before 7 p.m. for next round in order to be paired in.

6. Please turn off all cell phones and beepers or put them on vibrate. If you must make or take a call, please go outside immediately and close the door.

7. Please don't discuss your game in the tournament area after it is finished. Please move your game and discussion to the skittles area. Please don't discuss anyone else's games while in the tournament area. No skittles play is allowed in the tournament area.

* The Coral Springs chess club reserves the right to change the above information as needed because of fluctuation in number of players throughout the year, number of tournaments run, variables that may be outside of our control or for the overall good of the club.
